Archery is a fun sport that you can take up at any age. The aim is to shoot at the target of coloured rings with modern Olympic style archery equipment to score points. Archers try to get each of the arrows into the centre of the archery target. The competition becomes more and more difficult as the archery target faces reduce in size for each successive round.
Archery is one of our most ancient of sports. Whilst Robin Hood remains our most renowned archer, it was the skilful use of the longbow during the middle ages that secured a special place for archery in the annals of English history, helping to sustain a large following throughout the land.
Garlands provides archery participants with new high quality bows and arrows. Our archery activity lasts for 1 ½ hours. Participants have a practice session to develop technique, followed by an archery competition, taking part either individually or in teams. Medals are awarded to the top 3 archers, or a team prize for the top archery team.
Our archery instructors are experienced at working with complete beginners, as well as archers who may have already tried the sport and are looking to hone their skills.
